Netflix’s decision to end the limited series Too Much has left fans wondering what could have been. Initially pitched as a short series, the platform left the door open for more episodes, but it seems that won’t be happening. Released in July 2025, Megan Stalter headlined the cast of the romantic comedy series that saw her character move from New York to London in search of love. As she navigated the unfamiliar UK landscape, she discovered that following in the footsteps of movie love stories wasn’t as easy as it seemed.

The series was a fish-out-of-water story that saw Stalter’s character fall in love with an indie musician, an unlikely match that captured the hearts of audiences. Despite its short run, Too Much managed to leave a lasting impression on viewers, who were invested in the characters’ journey. The series’ creator, Lena Dunham, hinted at possible storylines to come, leaving room for speculation about what could have been.

Speaking to TUDUM at the time of release, Dunham discussed the finale, stating that she wanted to leave viewers inspired but also wondering if the couple would last. This dual feeling was a deliberate choice, as Dunham aimed to capture the essence of real-life relationships. Although the series won’t be returning for Season 2, Dunham and Netflix haven’t entirely shut the door on a potential follow-up. The show’s performance will be evaluated through the Netflix Engagement Report, which will provide more insight into its viewership.

Too Much received solid reviews from critics and audiences alike, with many praising its unique take on love and relationships. The series’ success can be measured by its ranking in the daily top 10s in 55 countries, including a 13-day stint in the UK top 10 and a 3-day appearance in the US top 10. While some titles, like The Vince Staples Show and Mo, failed to rank well but still received Season 2 pickups, Too Much’s performance was impressive. Fans will have to rely on their imaginations to continue the story, but for now, it seems that the series has come to an end.
