Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced a significant expansion of its partnership with Netflix, with several high-profile live events set to air on the streaming platform starting in 2026. The news comes as MLB secures wide-ranging agreements with ESPN and NBCUniversal, marking a significant milestone in the league’s efforts to increase its global reach and popularity.
The agreement will see Netflix broadcast several milestone events throughout the MLB season, including a regular-season game to open the year, a major All-Star showcase, and an annual special-event game. These events will be produced by MLB Network’s Emmy-winning production team in collaboration with Netflix’s live-event division. The partnership is seen as a strategic move by both parties, with Netflix looking to tap into the global popularity of baseball and MLB seeking to increase its international presence.
The first live MLB event on Netflix is scheduled to take place on March 25, 2026, with the New York Yankees facing off against the San Francisco Giants. This will be followed by the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on July 13, 2026, and the MLB at Field of Dreams game on August 13, 2026. These events will be live-streamed from iconic locations, including Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia and the movie-site ballpark in Dyersville, Iowa.
According to Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, the partnership is an exciting opportunity to deepen the existing global passion for baseball.
